My kids don't fight over much, but when they do they really stick to their guns. The latest fight is over who gets to open and shut the front door whenever we go anywhere. As some background...Asher has recently developed a major obsession with closing doors. I think it may have something to do with his father's propensity to leave doors open (closet, cupboard, dresser, etc.) and his mother's obsessive closing of them.

So we were leaving the house yesterday and Asher had already staked his claim by holding ferociously to the door handle. Kaia came along and said, "Isn't it my turn to open the door?" to which Asher responded, "No! My self!" Kaia reared up and exclaimed, "It's not appropriate if you don't share opening and shutting the door with me! It makes me angry and sad and mad!!" We struck a compromise - Asher opened the door and Kaia shut it, but not without some measure of loud complaining.
